Pramono Asks Adhi Karya To Unload The Mangkrak Monorel Pole, Gives One Month

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will ask PT Adhi Karya (Persero) to dismantle the stalled monorel pole on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, in order to end the fate of the former failed project pole.

Pramono will officially send a letter to Adhi Karya asking for demolition. This step was taken by Pramono after consulting with the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office so that the demolition of Adhi Karya's assets will certainly not generate legal problems in the future.

"Within the earliest days of next week, I will write a letter to Adhi Karya asking Adhi Karya in accordance with the letter sent by Kajati Jakarta, so we will ask them to dismantle it and we will give them 1 month," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, November 6th.

The DKI Provincial Government, said Pramono, had communicated with the management of PT Adhi Karya to discuss the completion of the monorail pole which had stalled about 20 years ago. If Adhi Karya does not want to dismantle it himself, then the DKI Provincial Government will work on it.

"When will DKI dismantle? We have determined the time is January (2026)," said Pramono.

If later the pole of the former monorel project stalled in the middle of this road has been dismantled, Pramono plans to widen Jalan Rasuna Said to reorganize its pedestrian path. Pramono ensured that the DKI Provincial Government had prepared a budget for its construction.

"If next January DKI dismantles it, at the same time we will make, eh, what, we cut it, we dismantle it, we make road widening, we build the pedestrians, and the funds already exist so that next year hopefully, what, Rasuna Said will be better," said Pramono.

Since several years ago, the pole of the Jakarta monorail project that has stalled along the HR Rasuna Said road and Jalan Asia Afrika has begun to be considered disturbing.

Initially, the construction of this monorail project in Jakarta began in 2004. At that time, the Governor of DKI was still held by Sutiyoso. The DKI Provincial Government is working with PT Jakarta Monorail as the developer or investor of the project.

The failure of the project began after several years of construction. When the monorail pole was held, DKI Governor Fauzi Bowo (who replaced Sutiyoso) stopped this development due to financial problems.

In 2014, former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama canceled his contract with PT Jakarta Monorail. In the court's decision, the assets of the monorail pole were declared to belong to Adhi Karya, so the state-owned company intended to dismantle them.
