KPK Dismantles Thugs In Riau Governor Abdul Wahid's Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has uncovered instructions for a tACK of thugs' received by Riau Governor Abdul Wahid from projects at the PUPR Office of Riau Province. The OTT carried out by the KPK is suspected of being related to the practice of extorting a number of projects at the service.

According to the KPK spokesman, Budi Prasetyo, Abdul Wahid is suspected of getting thugs' rations from the procurement of projects carried out by the private sector based on the recommendations of the governor.

"Then there is a kind of japrem (tACKhead) like that, that's the percentage for regional heads. Now that's the method," said Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 4 night.

Budi added that the alleged extortion was related to project budgeting at the Riau PUPR Service which was carried out by the technical implementation unit (UPT) at the service.

"So the alleged extortion is related to the budgeting at the PUPR Service, where the PUPR Service will have an UPT-UPT," he explained.

In the OTT on Monday, November 4, the KPK also secured evidence of money worth Rp 1.6 billion, which was allegedly prepared for Abdul Wahid. This money was found in the form of rupiah denominations, US dollars, and pounds sterling.

"The money is suspected to be part of some of the handovers to regional heads. This means that this arrest activity is part of several or some of the previous handovers," concluded Budi.
