5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Southeast Maluku, No Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 shook southeast of Southeast Maluku, Maluku Province, at around 00.02 WIB or 01.02 WITA with an epicenter at a depth of 55 kilometers.

"The earthquake has no potential for a tsunami," said information from the BMKG official website, quoted in Jakarta, Saturday.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the earthquake that rocked Southeast Maluku Regency was located at coordinates 6.11 South Latitude and 133.20 East Longitude.

The location, according to the same data, is 71 kilometers southeast of Southeast Maluku.

The same information states that the data submitted prioritizes speed, so that the data processing results are not stable and can change along with data completeness.

BMKG has not reported in detail regarding the triggers and impacts caused by the earthquake on the community.
