JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most major cities in Indonesia have the potential for light rain today, Thursday, October 30.

BMKG weather forecaster Adelia F A said that the island of Sumatra is predicted to be cloudy in Tanjung Pinang, then thick cloudy in Banda Aceh and Pekanbaru, and light rain in Medan and Padang.

He predicts thick cloudyness in Jambi, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang, and light rain will occur in Bengkulu.

"Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Bandar Lampung," he said in a statement quoted in Jakarta, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

Then, for Java Island, light rain is predicted in Serang, Bandung and Surabaya, then it is estimated that moderate rain will occur in Semarang and Yogyakarta.

He reminded us to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Jakarta.

"For the Bali and Nusa Tenggara areas, it is estimated that it will be cloudy in the Kupang area and light rain in Denpasar and Mataram," said Adelia.

Meanwhile, on the island of Kalimantan, it is estimated that light rain will occur in the Pontianak, Tanjung Selor and Palangka Raya areas, as well as the potential for moderate rain in Banjarmasin, while the potential for rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in the Samarinda area.

"For Sulawesi Island, light rain is estimated in the areas of Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, and Makassar, and be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Kendari area," he said.

For eastern Indonesia, he said, light rain is expected in the areas of Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Jayawijaya, and Merauke.

"Meanwhile, in the Sorong, Nabire and Jayapura areas, moderate rain is forecast," he said.
