Trump Is Confirmed To Meet Xi Jinping In South Korea Tomorrow

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump is confirmed to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea at 11 noon local time on Thursday.

This information was conveyed by the White House as reported by Reuters, Wednesday, October 29. There are no details regarding the topic of discussion between the two leaders of the country.

Trump before his visit to Asia, Trump said discussions with Xi would include trade and tariff issues between the two countries, as well as issues related to Taiwan.

"We have a lot to talk about with President Xi, and he also has a lot to talk about with us. I think this will be a good meeting," Trump said last week.

He explained that the 157 percent tariff currently imposed on China could not be maintained in the long term.

"I don't think it's sustainable for them, and they want to lower it," he said, adding that the United States also wanted a number of concessions from the Chinese side.

Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping is certain to attend the APEC Summit in South Korea. Apart from attending the APEC Summit, President Xi will also make bilateral visits.

President Xi Jinping's presence at APEC's 32nd economic leader meeting shows how important China is for economic cooperation in Asia-Pacific," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun at a press conference in Beijing, Friday (24/10).

President Xi Jinping plans to deliver an important speech at the meeting and hold bilateral meetings with leaders from relevant countries.

"China is ready to work closely with all parties to contribute to cooperation and economic growth in Asia-Pacific, as well as jointly building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future," continued Guo Jiakun.

Regarding Xi Jinping's meeting with Trump, Guo Jiakun at that time had not officially conveyed it. He only emphasized that China-US communication was ongoing.

"China and the US are in close communication regarding the meeting between the two presidents. We will continue to provide the latest information on this matter," added Guo Jiakun.
