LPSK Hands Over Restitution Total Rp106 Million To 5 Victims Of Immoral Cases Of Doctors In Garut

GARUT - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) handed over restitution for five women who were victims of immoral cases of obstetricians in Garut Regency, West Java, totaling Rp106 million.

"In accordance with the planning carried out together with the Garut District Attorney's Office, we present all the protected ones who receive restitution during the day, in accordance with the request from the victim," said LPSK Deputy Chair Antonius PS Wibowo as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 28.

He said the five women were patients who were victims of immoral acts by an obstetrician M. Syafril Firdaus (33) at his practice place in Garut whose case has now been sentenced by the Garut District Court.

All victims, he said, in accordance with applicable regulations, get restitution with the amount of receive varies according to the proposal or reference itself, the maximum is IDR 30.7 million, and the least is IDR 12.3 million.

"The sadness for A certainly cannot be the same as the suffering experienced by B, therefore the value can indeed be different," he said.

There are four components of restitution, namely compensation for loss of wealth, suffering, medical or psychological treatment costs, and other costs.

"LPSK calculates restitution, has its own reference, has its own standards, therefore not everything proposed by the victim is approved by LPSK," he said.

Head of the General Crimes Section of the Garut Prosecutor's Office, Yudhi Satriyo Nugroho, stated that the technical payment for restitution was carried out by transferring to the victim's account according to the nominal results of the LPSK assessment.

The provision of money as compensation is aimed at restoring dignity, as well as the mental condition of those who are victims of sexual violence.

"This restitution is not only about compensation for victims, but also the recovery of the dignity of victims of sexual violence," he said.

Previously, the Garut District Court had sentenced an obstetrician M Syafril Firdaus to an immoral case against a number of his patients with a sentence of five years in prison.
