JAKARTA - Commission VIII of the House of Representatives together with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah are scheduled to hold a working committee meeting (Panja) today, Tuesday, October 28 to decide on the cost of organizing the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage (BPIH).

This meeting will be a forum for determining the final amount of the cost of Hajj next year after going through several discussions.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the government was committed to reducing the cost of Hajj from Rp. 89.41 million to Rp. 88.40 million, or a decrease of around Rp. 1 million per congregation.

"Because the president's mandate is that the cost of Hajj must go down," Dahnil told reporters at the DPR/MPR Complex, Monday.

According to him, the proposed decline has been discussed with Commission VIII of the DPR and received a positive response. The government has also prepared a number of efficiency measures in various sectors for the cost of organizing the hajj.

"We focus on ensuring that every cost component can be saved without reducing service quality," explained Dahnil.

Dahnil emphasized that despite the cost cuts, the quality of the 2026 Hajj service will not decrease.

"The president's orders are clear, the reduction in costs should not be followed by a decline in quality. Therefore, we ensure that efficiency is carried out selectively," he said.

The final decision regarding the costs of organizing the 2026 Hajj (BPIH) will be made in a committee meeting tomorrow with the DPR, before being officially ratified in a joint working meeting.
