BMKG Forecasts Rain In Parts Of Indonesia Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light rain will flush most of Indonesia's territory on Sunday.

This was conveyed by BMKG forecaster Annisa Lestari in a Youtube broadcast in Jakarta.

Starting from Sumatra Island, Pekanbaru City is predicted to be cloudy, while the cities of Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, and Padang are forecasted to be thick cloudy. Medan City has the potential to rain with light intensity.

Still on the island of Sumatra, it is predicted to be thick cloudy in the cities of Jambi, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang, as well as light rain in the areas of Bengkulu and Bandar Lampung.

Turning to Java, it is predicted that thick clouds in the city of Surabaya, while the areas of Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Yogyakarta have the potential for light rain.

"The city of Serang is forecasted to rain with moderate intensity," said Annisa.

Then shifted to the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Kupang City is predicted to be cloudy, while in Denpasar City and Mataram there will be light rain.

Moving to Kalimantan Island, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy in Pontianak City, light rain in Palangkaraya City, and moderate rain in Samarinda.

"Be aware of thunderstorms that can occur in the Tanjung Selor and Banjarmasin areas," said Annisa.

Then, moving to Sulawesi Island, light rain is forecast in the areas of Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, and Makassar, as well as moderate rain in Mamuju City.

"Be aware of thunderstorms that can occur in the Manado and Kendari areas," he said.

Then for Eastern Indonesia, light rain is forecast in the cities of Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, Ambon, Jayawijaya, and Jayapura.

"Be aware of thunderstorms that can occur in the cities of Nabire and Merauke," said Annisa.

BMKG also warned the public to be aware of tidal flooding on the coasts of North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, north of Jakarta, south of West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and Maluku.

People in the Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, and surrounding areas are asked to be alert for high temperatures which are predicted to reach 31 to 35 degrees Celsius.
