SAR Finds Body Of Shipwrecked Crew In Riau Islands Karimun Waters

JAKARTA - The Tanjungpinang Class A Search and Rescue Office (SAR) through the Tanjung Balai Karimun SAR Post managed to find the body of Ari (27), a fishing crew member (ABK) who drowned in Karimun Waters, Riau Islands Province.

Head of the Tanjungpinang SAR Office Fazzli said the victim was found dead, Saturday, October 25, at 18.30 WIB, in the waters of Saipem, Karimun.

"The location of the victim's discovery is approximately 2.7 nanometers north of the accident scene," he said in Tanjungpinang, Saturday night, October 25.

According to Fazzli, the search for victims has been going on for three days, since the deceased was reported missing on Thursday, October 23 at 21.40 WIB.

Based on the reports received, the victim Ari was desperate to jump into the sea in the waters of Tembela Island, Karimun to catch fish that were detached from the fishing gear. Unfortunately, when he fell into the sea, the victim was dragged by the current and then drowned.

"The victim's body has been evacuated and taken to Muhammad Sani Hospital in Karimun for further processing," said Fazzli.

With the discovery of all the victims, he continued, the SAR operation was officially declared complete and proposed to be closed. All elements of the potential SAR involved in the operation returned to their respective units.
