Reviewing SPPG Halim, Brazilian First Lady Shares Experience Of Running MBG

JAKARTA - The First Lady of Brazil, Janja Da Silva, reviewed the Halim Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) and the distribution of Free Nutrition Food (MBG) at SD Angkasa 05 to share experiences in her country in running programs to improve the nutritional quality of the community.

Janja arrived at SPPG Halim at around 10.00 WIB, chatted with representatives from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the head of the SPPG, then continued his trip to SD Angkasa 05 at around 11.30 WIB to have a dialogue with the students and share MBG.

"The first lady shared her experience because a similar nutritious eating program in Brazil has started from 1955 and has been established by law until 2009. Well, it will take about seven decades until they can form a law," said BGN spokesman Dian Fatwa in Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the preparation of the law took a long time because there were many challenges when the MBG program first ran in Brazil, almost the same as what happened in Indonesia.

Dian added that there were differences in authority when distributing MBG in Brazil. For kindergarten-SMP students, distribution authority exists at the city and district levels, while the high school level is the authority of the central or federal governments.

"For the high school level, it will be at the federal level, so that's the difference because in Brazil it is a little different between local and federal governments," he said.

In Brazil, the government provides conditions included in standard operating procedures (SOP) that products from local farmers must be taken by the kitchens of MBG providers.

"Products from local farmers must be taken by local kitchens. So there is an obligation, and it is in their legislation," he said.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made a state visit to Jakarta on October 22' 24, 2025 as part of his trip to Southeast Asia. This visit is the second for Lula after her 2008 visit.
