North Korea Claims Success In Holding Trials For Two Hypersonic Projectiles

JAKARTA - North Korea on Thursday said it had successfully tested two hypersonic projectiles, calling them a new "important" weapon system, and adding the "ultimate" missile strengthened North Korea's war prevention.

"Two hypersonic projectiles launched from Ryokpho District, Pyongyang City, to the northeast hit a target point in the Kwesang Peak plateau in Orang County, North Hamgyong Province," the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported. October 23.

The test conducted the day before by the Missile Administration was part of a defense capability development program aimed at increasing the sustainability and effectiveness of its strategic prevention against potential enemies, KCNA reported.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was not present at Wednesday's trial. However, Pak Jong-chon, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and other officials oversee the launch.

"This new cutting-edge weapon system is clear evidence of North Korea's gradual improvement in North Korean self-defense technical capabilities," said Sir, while declaring his country's determination to continue to strengthen war prevention and self-defense.

He described the weapons system being tested as "new strategic value."

A day earlier, South Korea's military said North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles towards the northeast at around 08.10, which flew about 350 kilometers.

Military sources said the weapon was likely a tactical ballistic missile, known as the Hwasongpho-11-Da-4.5, which North Korea tested in September last year, adding that the missile landed on land, not in the East Sea.

The launch of this latest ballistic missile was the first since South Korean President Lee Jae-myung took office in June and was the first ballistic missile provocation in about five months.

The military force show took place about a week before South Korea hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in the city of Gyeongju, South Korea, on October 31-1 November.

US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are scheduled to visit South Korea to attend the event and meet with President Lee.
