TKW From Ponorogo Detained In Hong Kong Related To Money Laundering Case

PONOROGO - A female migrant worker or female worker (TKW) from Ponorogo Regency, East Java was reportedly detained by the Hong Kong immigration authorities for money laundering cases.

Head of the Ponorogo Manpower Office (Disnaker) Suko Kartono, Wednesday confirmed the information, but until now his party has not received official data regarding the identity of the TKW in question.

"We received information that one TKW was detained in Hong Kong, but its identity cannot be confirmed because until now the Indonesian Embassy and BP2MI have not provided official data. The information has only been circulated through social media," said Suko as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 22.

He explained that the alleged money laundering case began when the TKW handed over his ATM card to another party, which was then used for suspicious transactions.

Because he used the account in the name of the woman from Ponorogo, he was also questioned by the local authorities and finally detained.

According to Suko, his party is still waiting for official confirmation from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) or the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Hong Kong who is currently accompanying the TKW.

"The Indonesian Embassy has not released an identity because the legal process is still ongoing. We also cannot confirm whether the person concerned will legally depart through the channeling company or not. If there is a name and address, we will check through the system," he said.

The Ponorogo Manpower Office ensures that it will provide assistance and assist the repatriation process if it is proven that the TKW really comes from Ponorogo.

"After the legal process is complete and we receive the official report, we are ready to assist in the repatriation process," said Suko.
