JAKARTA - The Japanese government announced that US President Donald Trump will arrive in Japan on Monday (27/10) next week for a three-day visit.
Japan's Kyodo News Agency, citing Japanese Cabinet Secretary Minuru Kihara, reported Trump is scheduled to meet with Emperor Naruhito and newly elected Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
"President Trump's visit is a very meaningful opportunity to further strengthen the Japan 'United States' alliance," Kihara said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 22.
The visit will be Trump's first arrival to Japan in nearly six years.
Takaichi, who won the election for chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on October 4, was officially inaugurated as Japan's first female prime minister on Tuesday (21/10), replacing Shigeru Ishiba.

On Monday, Trump said he would meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea in the coming weeks.
He also mentioned a series of Asian visits this week.

Meanwhile, Malaysia will host the ASEAN Summit on Southeast Asia on October 26-28, which Trump and his delegation are expected to attend.
