Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that the process of building the Red Village Cooperative (Kopdes/KDMP) began this month throughout Indonesia.

"Yesterday I co-leaded the meeting, God willing, starting this month the development process will begin in a number of thousands of villages," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 17.
He explained that the construction of Kopdes is a direct government initiative, not just the distribution of funds.
The government, he said, would be the party to build the cooperative in a structured manner at the village and sub-district levels.
Answering questions related to cooperatives that are already operating, Prasetyo said the number is still limited to village cooperatives that are already exerciseing, including those connected to Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).
"If only about 100 have been operating, it's a cooperative that has been executed," he said.
According to Prasetyo, the existence of the Red and White Kopdes is expected to be the backbone of the village economy by strengthening independence, creating jobs, and accelerating the local economic turnover.
The government targets the construction of the cooperative to run parallel to the downstream agenda and improve the welfare of rural communities.
