The National Police Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor) conducted a crime scene (TKP) for the fire incident of the MT Federal II tanker which was being repaired at the shipyard owned by PT ASL Marine Shipyard in Tanjung Uncang, Batam City, Riau Islands, to find out the cause.
The Head of the Riau Islands Regional Police, Inspector General Asep Safrudin, said that the investigation into the ship fire case that killed 11 workers and 20 others was injured involving the National Police's Criminal Investigation Center for Laboratory.

The Riau Islands Police Chief has instructed his staff from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police to investigate the case, as well as the Ditreskrimum of the Riau Islands Police to back up the investigation.
The examination of the parties, both witnesses from the company and people at the scene of the incident, has been carried out. A total of nine witnesses have been questioned.
"Obviously, this case is our attention. This incident has claimed lives, and yesterday there was one more victim. This is a prominent incident, our automation will resolve this case," said Asep.
The high-ranking police officer also instructed the Ditreskrimum of the Riau Islands Police to thoroughly evaluate how the work safety management at the shipbuilding company located in Tanjung Uncang, how could there have been two incidents on the same ship.
"We will resolve this case and we will see or examine who must be responsible if it turns out that there was negligence or a criminal act that arose as a result of the incident," he said.
He said the crime scene conducted by the National Police Laboratory was also to determine whether the Federal II ship exploded or caught fire.
