JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, the day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visits the White House seeking further support in the fight against Russia.

Zelenskyy will meet Trump to push for more military support, while Kyiv and Moscow step up their war with massive attacks on the energy system, while NATO is struggling to respond to a spate of Russian airstrikes.

Ukraine is eyeing US Tomahawk long-range missiles, which will put Moscow and other major Russian cities within missile fire range from Ukraine.

Trump said he could supply the weapons to Ukraine if Putin failed to come to the negotiating table.

Trump, a Republican who vowed to end the war, expressed his growing frustration at Putin over the continuing attacks.

In its latest attack, Russia launched more than 300 unmanned aircraft (drone) and 37 missiles to target infrastructure across Ukraine in a overnight attack on Thursday, Zelenskiy said.

Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy and electricity facilities over several consecutive winters as the war entered its fourth year, initially focusing on electricity but this year increasingly targeting gas infrastructure.
