DPR Fair Value Patrick Kluivert Fired: No Increase In Graphics, Even Though STY Era Has Progress

JAKARTA - Member of Commission X DPR Habib Syarief Muhammad considered it natural that Patrick Kluivert was fired as coach of the national team after failing to bring Indonesia to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Because according to him, the achievements of the Indonesian national team actually stalled when they were cared for by Patrick et al.

"I think it is reasonable if Patrick is expected from most people to be replaced. Because we see that there is no increase in the graph," said Habib Syarief at the DPR building, Jakarta, Thursday, October 16.

"Not only in the final, against China. Several times it also did not show an upward graph," continued the member of the commission in charge of sports.

Habib Syarief then compared the achievements of the national team when coached by Shin Tae Yong (STY). He considered that many Indonesian national team players had made progress and even had tickets for the 2027 Asian Cup.

In fact, said Syarief, it should have been easier for Patrick to build chemistry with diaspora players than STY, which is said to be constrained by language.

"Meanwhile, during Shin Tae Yong's time, we saw a progress graph. Whereas in terms of chemistry with players, actually CLuiverts are closer. But it seems that in my opinion, he doesn't have the first one yet, models, motivates good players," said Habib Syarief.

"Then secondly, he (Patrick) failed to present a pattern of play on how to fight Asian teams," he added.

Habib Syarief explained that his party did not blame Patrick Kluiver completely because of the time to gather and practice together with the players very little. However, he also could not resist the swift currents of society that Patrick wanted to replace.

"Because this is not a personal problem, but this concerns the nation's self-esteem issue. Many capital has been issued, but the results are not in accordance with what is being compared," he said.

"We Commission X are very supportive, but of course we are very disappointed with this result," continued the PKB legislator.

Regarding Commission X DPR will urge PSSI to bring STY back to coach the national team, Habib Syarief said he personally agreed.

However, according to him, PSSI needs to find other reliable coaches to lead the Indonesian national team to excel in the international arena.

"Maybe it's not just Shin Tae Yong. If there are coaches who are more reliable, I think I can find something else. But if it's his temporary choice for Shin Tae Yong, I think personally, not as Commission X, I personally agree," he said.

If STY returns to coach the national team, Habib reminds PSSI to give full freedom to Shin Tae Yong to choose players. As well as giving STY the opportunity to offer the desired pattern.

"And then the third, give him the opportunity to determine who will accompany Shin Tae Yong," he concluded.
