Meeting Surya Paloh, Defense Minister Sjafrie Answered Guyon About Megawati's Law: Prabowo Will Be Scolded Later

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsuddin joked about lightening the atmosphere ahead of his meeting with the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, at the National Defense Council Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 15.

When asked by a number of journalists whether to invite PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, Sjafrie smiled and said lightly: "If I invite him, Mr. Prabowo will scold him."

The jokes were greeted with laughter from journalists at the location. But behind the relaxed atmosphere, the meeting with Surya Paloh had serious political meaning. It can be said that this was the first visit from a political party outside the Advanced Indonesia Coalition to the Ministry of Defense since Prabowo Subianto served as President.

After the closed meeting, Sjafrie said that her discussion with Surya Paloh was warm and full of national spirit. "I just had a private and political conversation with Pak Paloh. He conveyed a lot of important input, filled with nationalism and patriotism commitments," said Sjafrie.

He emphasized that the meeting was a form of openness. "The Ministry of Defense belongs to the Indonesian people. Anyone can come. This is the home of the sovereign people," he said.

The Defense Minister also said that he received a report that PKS would follow the visit. "This is the effect of Mr. Surya's TikTok coming here," he added with a smile.

Meanwhile, Surya Paloh called the meeting a place to strengthen the spirit of nationality. "We discussed from heart to heart, how to keep President Prabowo's government running successfully. Our common task is to ensure that success," said Surya Paloh.
