JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that the DKI Provincial Government needs four waste power plants (PLTSa) to solve the increasing number of Jakarta waste problems.
He explained that currently Jakarta is the largest waste producing city in Indonesia with waste production reaching 8,000 tons per day. The tonnage of waste is produced from the household, commercial, industrial, and office sectors.
Not to mention, the pile of Jakarta waste at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST), Bekasi, has now reached 55 million tons.
"Jakarta, if it is built for PLTS with a feeder or input of approximately 2,500 to 3,000, then we can get four or up to five PLTS, where one PLTS will produce approximately 35 megawatts," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, October 15.
Electricity that can be produced from processing this waste, according to Pramono, can be sold directly to the State Electricity Company (PLN).
"With PLN, we will definitely be able to cooperate. If the KWh is 20 cents per kh, then there is no need for a tipping fee, so I am sure that the waste problem in Jakarta will be resolved soon," said Pramono.

Therefore, Pramono welcomed the central government's plan through the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) which will cooperate with the DKI Provincial Government to build PLTSa in Jakarta.
Pramono claims that Jakarta is better prepared to build PLTSa than other regions.
"For matters related to PLTSa, we have sat with Danantara many times and it has been agreed because Jakarta compared to other regions, the infrastructure must be better prepared," explained Pramono.
"For that, in Jakarta, first, the infrastructure is available. Second, investors, especially contractors, the world's major operators also hope to work together in Jakarta," he added.
