TARAKAN - Two fishermen, Jayadi (44) and Heru (38), who were reported missing after their ship capsized in Amal Baru Beach, East Tarakan District, were finally found dead by a joint search and rescue team (SAR).
The head of the Tarakan SAR Office, Syahril, said the first victim was found at 08.45 WITA. "At around 08.45 WITA, the joint SAR team found the first victim in a dead condition," said Syahril in Tarakan, Antara, Thursday, October 9.
The victim was found at coordinates 3°1836.13N 117°4049.67E, or about 0.69 nautical miles from the starting point of the incident. Not long after, at 09.50 WITA, the team again found the second victim, also in a state of death, at coordinates 3°18'53.00"N 117°42'21.00"E in the same waters.
The two bodies were then evacuated to the funeral home in the Jalan Gunung Amal area.
Previously, the Tarakan SAR Office received a report from Zainuri, the victim's family, on Thursday (9/10) at around 06.00 WITA. He reported that on Wednesday (8/10) night, at around 20.00 WITA, four fishermen left fishing from Amal Baru Beach.
On the way, their ship capsized due to thunderstorms and extreme weather. Two fishermen were rescued by another passing fishing boat, while the other two, Jayadi and Heru, were swept away by the ocean currents until they were finally found dead.
