ICRC: We Watch Humanity Destroyed In Gaza

JAKARTA - Head of the Sub-dellegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Gaza Strip Sarah Avrilloud said residents of civilians had suffered deaths, forced evacuations and a denial of dignity at an alarming level over the past two years.

"We have witnessed the destruction of humanity in Gaza," he said.

"Thousands of Palestinians have been separated from their families, and many are still missing. The impact of the last two years has been evident in the tired faces of people trying to survive from hour to hour," he explained.

"The remaining essential services cannot meet the needs of civilians adequately. Many people do not have regular or safe access to water, cleaning facilities, or medical services. The impact of the two years of struggle to survive has exceeded words," said Avrilaud.

Avlaud further wrote: "I have met women who are scared and don't know how to feed their children or protect them. I have seen patients struggling to recover because they can't rest due to persistent displacements. I have seen families get out of buildings that are destroyed and covered in dust, shocked but still alive."

"The International Committee of the Red Cross continues to respond wherever possible, with partners like the Palestinian Red Cross, but as the situation worsens, challenges only grow. Humanitarian organizations alone cannot meet the increasing needs of civilians," he explained.

Avrilaud also stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, calling for humanitarian aid to enter and pass through the Gaza Strip quickly and without a hitch.

"All possible preventive measures must be taken to protect civilians, who have suffered too much suffering in the last two years," he said.

"The soul can be saved, but civilians cannot wait. They need political action now," he concluded.
