Heavy Rain, Three Areas In South Kalimantan On Flood Alert

JAKARTA - The Meteorological Agency for Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) has declared three areas in South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) to be on alert for floods or flash floods due to heavy rains that are expected to occur throughout Monday, May 17, today.

"In total there are 13 sub-districts from three districts or cities potentially affected by flooding due to high rain intensity," said Syamsudin Meteorological Station forecaster Noor Adhitya Prakoso in Banjarbaru, reported antara, Monday, May 17.

The three areas are Tanah Bumbu regency with affected sub-districts mantewe, Kusan Hulu, Kuranji, Satui, Karang Bintang, Batulicin, Kusan Hilir and Simpang Empat.

Then Kotabaru Regency there are three affected sub-districts namely Hampang, Kelumpang Hilir and Kelumpang Hulu. While Banjar Regency there are two districts with flood alert status, namely Aranio and Pinang River.

"In addition to flooding, natural disasters that should be watched by the community can occur due to heavy rains, namely landslides, rock fall or soil erosion," Adhitya said.
