Diplomat Arya Daru's Wife Agrees To Exhumation, Asks For Her Husband's Case To Be Handled By The Criminal Investigation Department

JAKARTA - The wife of the late former Diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arya Daru Pangayunan, Meta Ayu Puspitantri, conveyed clarification regarding a number of items referred to as evidence, as well as expressing support for the exhumation plan recommended by Commission XIII DPR RI.

"The female items that are shown as evidence belong to me, including pink sandals (and contraceptives). That's all of our belongings, why is that being used as evidence," said Meta after a general hearing with Commission XIII of the DPR in the Parliament area, Jakarta, Tuesday, was confiscated by Antara.

Meta also revealed that she had never asked for a shift in CCTV at Arya's boarding house, and had confirmed it when the police held a case title.

He then denied the narrative regarding his family's financial pressure. He said his family's lifestyle was simple, without debt or facilities that were considered luxurious.

"We are an ordinary family, Spotify's most monthly bill, Netflix. Mas Daru is also the type who prefers to go home quickly rather than wandering around," he said.

She stated that she agreed with the plan to reopen her husband's death and conduct an exhumation which was also supported by Commission XIII of the DPR.

"I am very grateful to Commission XIII for helping our family," he said.

Meanwhile, the family attorney, Nicholay Aprilindo, emphasized that until now the National Police had not given an official response to the letter sent.

"We ask that at least this week be answered. If there is no interest, why should we be afraid to answer?" he said.

The family's attorney questioned the attitude of the police who were considered to have closed themselves. He emphasized that if there was no procedural error, the police should not have to avoid it and immediately give the deceased's family time an audience.

Nicholay later claimed that there were parties who wanted to cover up the case.

"Honestly, it is certain that the syndicate that wants the death of the deceased will not remain silent," he said.

He added that his party would continue to request that this case be withdrawn to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim).

Previously, Commission XIII of the DPR in the meeting requested that the Arya Daru case be reopened with an exhumation option, and requested the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Human Rights to ensure transparency in handling.
