Stop Manufacturing Menu For MBG, BGN: To Awaken The Local Economy, Not Enriching Factory Owner Conglomerates

JAKARTA - Deputy National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Nanik S. Deyang revealed that his party decided to stop the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) menu produced from the factory.

Nanik emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto wanted MBG to become a program to fulfill children's nutrition in Indonesia as well as empower MSME actors.

"We will carry out the president's instruction that the MBG kitchen is to revive the local economy. Not to enrich the conglomerate that owns the bread factory," Nanik said at a press conference at the BGN office, Central Jakarta, Friday, September 26.

BGN asked the nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG) to use the surrounding community products into MBG menus such as bread produced by MSMEs. However, BGN excluded this ban on dairy products.

"So please, I will no longer use it, do not tolerate the use of manufacturer products. We will use local products," said Nanik.

"Unless there is milk where there is no milk farm in the kitchen, we are forced to temporarily allow it to use packaged milk," he added.

Nanik revealed that BGN issued a new regulation requiring all nutritional fulfillment service units (SPPG) or MBG kitchens to have a certified chef's head.

"We make another rule that the provisions for all SPPG kitchens must be led by certified chefs," said Nanik.

According to Nanik, each MBG kitchen must have two certified chefs consisting of one BGN representative chef and one chef who is prepared by partners or SPPG in the kitchen.

Then, BGN also prohibits MBG kitchens from using foodstuffs that are not fresh. Because, this is the cause of hundreds of MBG poisoning students in West Bandung Regency, some time ago.

"I also do not tolerate raw materials, raw materials that are used if not fresh because the incident in Bandung is beyond reason. How the raw materials are in a fresh condition, the chicken purchased on Saturday is only cooked on Wednesday," he said.
