21-Year Illegal Parking In DKI Provincial Government Land, Pramono: I'll Check!

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that he had just learned about the illegal parking practice on land owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in the Lebak Bulus area, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

"I don't know yet, but I will investigate later, I will check," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Antara, Thursday, September 25.

However, Pramono ensured that his party would not remain silent. He promised to seek and demand accountability from parties who used the DKI Provincial Government's land to park unlicensed for decades.

"I will ask whoever is responsible to definitely be responsible," he said.

The DKI Jakarta DPRD Parking Special Committee (Pansus) previously conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) of the findings of illegal parking practices on land owned by the DKI Provincial Government on Wednesday (24/9). The location of the land is in the Bona Indah Plaza area, Jalan Karang Tengah Raya, Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

Chairman of the Parking Special Committee of the DKI DPRD, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, revealed that the 4,300 square meter land has been controlled by irresponsible parties. This DKI Provincial Government asset was used as an illegal parking bag for more than two decades without paying taxes to the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).

"Here he said the association. They took parking money from the community using a ticket. However, when we checked this ticket, there was never a payment to Bapenda," said Jupiter.

Jupiter estimates that illegal parking turnover on the land reaches Rp. 50 million per day or Rp. 1.5 billion per month. If managed officially, the DKI Provincial Government should receive revenue of Rp. 150 million per month. Imagine, it has been 21 years managed without official permission and without paying taxes. Our rough calculation is that the potential loss of regional income reaches Rp. 37.8 billion. That is clear tax evasion," he said.

According to Jupiter, this illegal parking practice could last a long time due to omission by the DKI Provincial Government. In addition to tax leakage, the existence of illegal parking also causes public unrest and has the potential to become a wild levy field.

"If the provincial government's land is controlled without an official contract, without rent, it is prone to permanent grabs. We are worried that there will be involvement of individuals from within. Therefore, we encourage the governor to dare to evaluate and replace negligent officials," said Jupiter.
