TANJUNGPINANG - Bintan Police, Riau Islands Police (Kepri) arrested a man with the initials MP (45) for the murder of his own wife with the initials R (38).

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Bintan Police, Iptu Rahmadi Fikri, said the perpetrator killed his wife at Grand Pesona Mutiara Housing 3, Sei Lekop Village, East Bintan District, Bintan Regency, Wednesday (24/9) in the morning or around 01.00 WIB.

After the incident, he said, the perpetrator went to the head of the local RT and then surrendered to the Bintan Police.

"It is true, the perpetrator has now been detained at the Bintan Police Headquarters for further investigation," said Iptu Fikri, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 25.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit said that the police were still investigating the motives of the perpetrators who were desperate to kill his wife with sharp weapons. It is suspected that they had an argument before the murder incident occurred.

"It is suspected that there was a household problem triggered by the husband's jealousy towards his wife," said Fikri.

Meanwhile, victim R's body, he continued, had been taken to the Kijang Bintan Hospital for post-mortem purposes.

According to information from local residents, the victim's body was found lying on his bed covered in blood.

The perpetrator and the victim recently lived in the residential location. Both of them are immigrants from outside the region. The perpetrator MP works in the private sector.
