President Prabowo Affirms The World Needs The United Nations

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the world needs the Group of the Nation to maintain peace, affirming Indonesia's support for the international body.

Speaking after United States President Donald Trump, President Prabowo started his speech saying "we are gathering here as a family".

"Thucydides said; The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they have to suffer," said President Prabowo.

"We must reject this doctrine. The UN exists to reject this doctrine," President Prabowo said in a speech at the New York United Nations Headquarters, Tuesday, September 23.

"We must be present to all parties, the strong and the weak," said the President

President Prabowo said Indonesia remains committed to multilateralism and every effort to strengthen the United Nations.

"Without the United Nations, we can feel safe. Without the United Nations, no country would feel safe," he said.

"We need the United Nations and Indonesia will continue to support the United Nations. Even though we are still fighting, we know the world needs a strong UN," said President Prabowo.

Also accompanying President Prabowo in the General Debate of the UN General Assembly this time were Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hassan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The General Debate of the United Nations' 80th General Assembly this year begins with the opening of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and German General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock.

After the opening, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva became the first speaker, followed by United States President Joe Biden. The first and second speaking sequences followed an unregistered tradition.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto spoke on his third turn, before Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Peru President Dina Ercilia Bouarte Zegarra.
