Muhammadiyah DKI: Perseroda Transformation Becomes Momentum For PAM Jaya To Improve Public Services

JAKARTA - The Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah DKI Jakarta considers the transformation of PAM Jaya's status from a Regional Public Company (Perumda) to the Regional Company (Perseroda) as a strategic step to strengthen piped drinking water services in the capital city.

Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah DKI Jakarta Ahmad Abubakar emphasized that the main orientation of DKI regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) in the field of piped water services must still be in favor of the community.

"Transformation into Perseroda is a momentum to improve service quality, but the top priority is still public service. Every policy taken must side with the community as the main beneficiary," said Ahmad Abubakar in his statement, Monday, September 22.

According to him, this new status provides greater space for PAM Jaya to strengthen access to capital, business flexibility, as well as encourage improving service quality.

"With the status of Perseroda, it can open up space to increase capital, be more flexible, and opportunities to improve the quality of public services," he said.

Ahmad Abubakar ensured that the change in status would not reduce the rights of the community as a customer of piped water. "People will still get piped drinking water services optimally as before," he continued.

He also emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in company governance. This transformation, continued Ahmad Abubakar, is expected not only to strengthen the financial and operational aspects but also to emphasize PAM Jaya's commitment as a public service provider that is fair, transparent, and oriented towards the welfare of Jakarta residents.

"Transparency is not only about financial reports, but also openness in determining tariff and service policies. Accountability means that the public can directly assess whether the company really works for the public interest," he concluded.
