Village Liaison Bridge In Lumajang Disconnected Due To Floods, Residents Must Turn 15 Kilometers

The bridge connecting two villages in Lumajang Regency, East Java was cut off due to heavy river water after heavy rains in the local area for two consecutive days.

The cut off access to the bridge connecting residents in Kandangtepus Village with Kandangan Village in Senduro District caused the two residents in two villages to turn 15 kilometers.

"Two days of heavy rain caused the bridge to collapse, initially cracked until finally the bridge was cut off. Thank God there were no casualties, because previously residents had closed the bridge access," said a resident of Kandangan Village, Ahmad in a local village, Friday, September 19.

Access to the bridge is also a liaison from Senduro District to Gucialit District and Padang District, so that the mobility of residents is disrupted.

According to him, the age of the bridge is quite old, then heavy rains cause river water discharge to increase, thereby eroding the bridge's foundation until the bridge is cut off.

"The suspension of the bridge had a major impact on the mobility of residents because we had to turn 15 kilometers past Glagah Arum and Pandansari for activities," he said.

He hopes that there will be attention from the regional and provincial governments to repair the bridge because there are thousands of residents who are very dependent on the bridge, especially school children.
