Down 13 Thousand People, Central Lombok Poverty Rate Improves In 2025

PRAYA - The Central Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) noted that the percentage of poor people until March 2025 fell to 10.68 percent or decreased by 13,000 people compared to 2024 which was recorded at 12.07 percent.

"It's down 1.39 percent, or a decrease in the poverty rate in Central Lombok," said Central Lombok Regent Lalu Pathul Bahri during a press conference with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in Praya, Antara, Friday, September 19.

The problem of poverty is not only seen from the number and percentage of poor people, but also from the dimension of depth and severity of poverty. The poverty depth index measures the average gap in spending on the poor population on the poverty line, while the poverty severity index shows how wide the spread of spending among the poor is.

"Our target is to reduce the poverty rate by 9 percent by 2026," he said.

According to Pathul Bahri, various programs have been implemented to accelerate the reduction in poverty, such as increasing road infrastructure, empowering human resources, and social assistance programs.

"The program collaboration in all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) is to reduce poverty and improve people's welfare," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Central Lombok BPS Muhammad Saphonoan said the number of poor people in Central Lombok in March 2025 reached 109,250 people, a decrease of 13,000 people compared to the previous year. The poverty line in March 2025 was recorded at IDR 568,910 per capita per month, an increase of 3.55 percent compared to March 2024.

"The poverty rate in Central Lombok Regency in 2025 has decreased compared to March 2024, both in terms of numbers and percentages," he said.

This decline is influenced by controlled inflation, positive economic growth, and various poverty intervention programs carried out by the government.
