Former Balangan Regional Secretary Detained For Alleged Abuse Of Grant Funds Of IDR 1 Billion

The Balangan District Attorney (Kejari) has detained the former Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Balangan Regency with the initials ST on suspicion of misuse of grant funds for the 2023 Fiscal Year worth IDR 1 billion.

The funds were allocated to the Taklim Al Hamid Council in Bungin Village, South Paringin District.

"Detention has been carried out since last Wednesday," said Head of the Mangantar Siregar District Attorney's Office (Kejari) in Paringin, Antara, Friday, September 19.

Mangantar explained that when the incident occurred ST was still serving as an official within the Balangan Regency Government. The suspect allegedly gave a disposition for the Taklim Al Hamid Council to be included in the list of grant recipients, even though it did not meet the requirements.

"This act caused state financial losses of Rp. 1 billion," he said.

ST was named a suspect after two other people first assumed the status of suspects, namely Nurdiansyah and Habib Mustofa.

Although ST did not receive a flow of grant funds, the disposition it issued resulted in disbursement of grant funds worth Rp1 billion. The funds are planned to be used to buy land and buildings, but until now these assets never existed.

Penyidik Kejari Balangan menitipkan ST di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan (Lapas) Amuntai, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), Kalimantan Selatan, selama 20 hari ke depan. Sebelum ditahan, ST memenuhi panggilan pemeriksaan dan bersikap kooperatif.

Balangan Kejari investigators left ST at the Amuntai Penitentiary (Lapas), North Hulu Sungai Regency (HSU), South Kalimantan, for the next 20 days. Before being detained, ST fulfilled the summons and was cooperative.
