JAKARTA - The arrest of a syndicate of motorcycle thieves (curanmor) in Matraman is not over yet. The East Jakarta Metro Police are still hunting for other perpetrators involved in this crime.
East Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Dicky Fertoffan explained that a man with the initials Y is still being chased by his party. Y is the collector of 30 motorbikes resulting from this gang crime.
"We are still looking for the presence of a collector from a motorcycle theft group, namely the initials Y. Penadah Y has already accommodated approximately 30 motorbikes," said East Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Dicky Fertoffan in Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to him, Y was a gang of motorcycle thieves who were raided by the police at a rented house on Jalan Asem Gede, Utan Kayu Selatan Village, Matraman, East Jakarta, Friday, September 12, afternoon.
Five people were arrested, four were named suspects and one was a child in conflict with the law (ABH).
Regarding the mode of selling stolen motorbikes, the police suspect that most of the vehicles are channeled through Y. However, investigators from the East Jakarta Metro Police are still investigating the distribution network of the stolen motorbike.

The five perpetrators, four people act as executors or jockeys for motorcycle theft. They are MG (ABH), EW, SR, and MR.
Meanwhile, another suspect, with the initials T, was tasked with changing the appearance of the stolen motorbike before being resold.
The suspects were charged with two alternative articles, namely Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft by weight, the threat of a sentence of up to seven years in prison.
