ASN Bawaslu Allegedly Darkens 12 Cars For Rental For The 2024 Election, Mataram Police Ready To Pick Up Forced

The Mataram City Police (Polresta), West Nusa Tenggara, summoned the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) with the initials LRA as a suspect in the alleged embezzlement of a rented car that used operations for the 2024 General Election.

"We summoned the person concerned as a suspect on Thursday, September 18", said Head of the Mataram Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Regi Halili in Mataram, Antara, Tuesday, September 16.

This summons is the second after LRA was not present on the agenda for the first examination on Monday.

"So we have been summoned as a suspect, but the person concerned did not come yesterday," said Regi.

Regi said that if LRA returned to work, investigators did not rule out the possibility of forced pick-up.

"Yes, if you don't attend again, we can do that (forced pick-up)," he said.

This case originated from the report of the leaser from Bandung. Based on the contract with Bawaslu, the vehicle rental period ends in January 2024. However, LRA, who is responsible for returning the car, pawned the 12 vehicles to a number of parties.

The police have mapped the whereabouts of the car which is evidence. Three units have been handed over to their owners in Bandung, three units secured at the Mataram Police, and six other units have not been secured but have been tracked down.

"We have mapped the existence of goods from the results of the examination of LRA's younger brother," said Regi.

Regi menegaskan penanganan kasus ini telah masuk tahap penyidikan, diperkuat gelar perkara dan keterangan berbagai pihak, mulai dari LRA saat berstatus terlapor, pemberi sewa, hingga pihak Bawaslu.

Regi emphasized that the handling of this case has entered the investigation stage, reinforced the title of the case and statements of various parties, starting from LRA when the status of the reported party, the leaser, to Bawaslu.
