Bali Flood: Amin Suwandi's Body Found In Ubung Kaja

Bali Basarnas confirmed that one identity of the victim died due to a large flood found in the Tirta Ganga DAM river on Jalan Kertanegara, Ubung Kaja, on Monday, September 15.

Head of Operations and SAR Preparedness of the Bali Basarnas Office I Wayan Juni Antara in a statement received in Denpasar, Tuesday, said that after being identified on Monday afternoon, it was confirmed that the victim was Amin Suwandi.

"The Bali Police Biddokkes Team gave a verbal statement that the body was confirmed on behalf of Amin Suwandi," said Wayan Juni, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 16.

It is known that Amin Suwandi was one of five major flood victims in Bali on Wednesday (10/9) who had not been found, he reportedly washed away during the flood in Ubung, Denpasar.

On Monday (15/9) the Bali Basarnas Office first received information about the discovery of the body at around 08.55 WITA.

"The suspicion began when residents began to smell an unnatural smell since the morning, after being traced in the Batu Medapit Gang by local residents, it was found that there were parts of the body visible among the piles of garbage," said Wayan Juni.

Finally, the joint SAR team that was conducting a search at Ubung and Kumbasari Market shifted to the point where the body was found.

"It is true that the body of a man who had rotted without wearing clothes and was difficult to identify, so the body was evacuated to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital using a Bali BPBD ambulance at around 09.50 WITA," he said.

Amin Suwandi's family who was at the location estimated that the body was a member of his family who was missing during the big flood, but was finally confirmed after the results of the Inafis came out.

During the day yesterday, the joint SAR team continued to search for missing victims due to the large floods in Denpasar and Badung.

Wayan Juni said the team focused on three locations, namely the Tukad Badung Dam to the Batu Lumbang mangrove area, the Kumbasari Market river, and around Mengwitani.

Apart from the findings of Amin Suwandi's body, several times the team received reports of suspicion of human bodies, but it turned out to be wrong.

"In the morning the SAR team in Mengwitani started their movement by dividing them into 3 SRUs, combing down the river from the location of the house which had collapsed to the south, until 12.00 WITA the results were still nil," he said.

Furthermore, at 10:55 WITA, information was received again on the discovery of the body in the waters of Cemanggi, after the SRU 1 shifted to checking by combing the waters but no bodies were found.

"In the afternoon, we also received reports of suspicions from a pungent odor in the Taman Pancing area, after we checked the location until the evening, no casualties were found," said Wayan Juni.
