40 Percent Traditional Markets In Jakarta Concerned

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Market Trade Cooperative Center (Puskopas), Gusnal, revealed that 40 percent of traditional markets managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government are currently in a state of concern.

It is recorded that there are 153 markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya. A total of 153 of them are still actively operating and 7 other markets have been converted.

"Of the number of markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya, around 40 percent of them are in dire condition, slum, muddy, leaking, prone to flooding and prone to fires," said Gusnal in his statement, Monday, September 15.

Puskoppas also noted that 110,480 traders were selling in traditional markets owned by the DKI Provincial Government. A total of 42 percent of traders and their place of business have closed.

Unworthy market exiting conditions, especially in terms of cleanliness and limited parking space, to muddy market conditions, Gusnal acknowledged, reduced visitors' interest in coming to market shopping.

"Currently, traders are in a very difficult situation, making it difficult to survive in trying, especially to fulfill their obligations to pay retribution, parking, toilet, electricity, PHP and other costs," explained Gusnal.

Meanwhile, he admitted that Pasar Jaya did not hesitate to issue warnings, sealing, and even canceling kiosks or business places in the market.

Therefore, Gusnal revealed that market traders throughout Jakarta asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta to form a team to rescue traders consisting of elements of the government, legislature, managers, and market traders.

"This team is expected to make breakthroughs as a solution to the return of markets throughout DKI Jakarta in demand by the community in the midst of the swift currents of globalization and online shopping today," he explained.

Not only that, market traders also asked Pramono to remove or whiten arrears on market management costs and provide relief for the next BPP/CMS which has been a burden for traders. Then, asked Pramono to abolish the cost of extending the right to use (PHP).
