JAKARTA - The Environment Agency of Karawang Regency, West Java has allocated a budget of IDR 781 million for the maintenance of the West Karawang interchange median park.
Head of the Parks Division of the Karawang Environment and Hygiene Service, Dede Pramiadi Asmara, said that the Rp781 million fund that was widely discussed was the budget ceiling, not the value of the land acquisition work contract in the maintenance of the park.
The value of the park maintenance work at the West Karawang interchange median is IDR 625 million, which is sourced from the 2025 Karawang APBD.
The work on maintenance of the park on the median of the West Karawang interchange road includes clearing grass along with its roots, cultivating soil, fertilizing using husks, compost and manure, to planting plants.
According to him, the spread of the husks is only part of the soil breeding process and is not the only work item.
The husks used in this project reached 284 cubic meters or the equivalent of 35.5 tons. The conversion of 1 cubic meter of husk is the same as 125 kilograms.
In addition to the spread of the husks, he said, around 31,000 polybags of plant seeds were also prepared to be planted after the fertilization stage was completed.
"The types of plants that will be planted include African pandan, red wera (fiber flowers), wera tricolor, heliconia orange, heliconia golden iron, and alamanda plants," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 13.
He hopes that the public can understand that this work is a gradual process that takes time and detailed attention.
"We make sure all stages are carried out according to the plan and technical specifications," he said.
Meanwhile, a community leader in Karawang Asep Agustian regretted how much the value of park maintenance was.
"This is maintenance, yes, not creating a new park. Some of the trees are still on the median of the road," he said.
He considered that this was part of a waste. Not to mention the process of maintaining the park, which includes the spread of husks.
According to him, the use of husks on the median of the West Karawang interchange, which is a very dangerous vehicle-intensive route.
"The husks were spread along the median park on the road, without being covered with tarpaulins. What if the strong winds and husks hit the eyes of the motorcyclist, is it not dangerous," he said.

He hopes that the Karawang Environment Agency will be serious in arranging and beautifying the "face" of Karawang with good parks.
"This is what the park project in Karawang occurs almost every year, most of the work is at that point. In fact, until there is a new plant planting, even though in the park area there are still plants," he said.
