Minister Pigai Proposes Government Office To Create Special Places For Demonstrations

DENPASAR - Minister of Human Rights (HAM) Natalius Pigai suggested that every government office in Indonesia provide a special place to protest for the community.

"My proposal. This is just a title on its own. My proposal in the future is that the offices with large spaces (rooms). Like the DPR RI, which has a large page, make a place for taste," said Minister Pigai during a visit to the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bali, Denpasar, Friday, September 12.

"Not a stage, meaning that space is made for demonstrations. A place for democracy centers, to become a center for democracy. Especially offices with large spaces. But offices with small spaces, they can show off in the places provided," he added.

He said that offices that have a large area of places such as the DPR building can be made special places for demonstrations.

That way, when people who hold demonstrations do not disturb road users because they eat the road.

In addition, Pigai asked the leadership of government agencies to meet the protesters in hearings.

"At the time of the demonstration, the leadership came out to accept them and was obliged to accept them. In the future, we must be able to have regulations for every protester, office or representative leader must accept (demonstran)," he said.
