Bandang Flood In Nagekeo Kills 4 People, BNPB Deploys Team From Jakarta

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that air routes are the main choice to reach locations affected by flash floods in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) because land access is still difficult to penetrate.

Head of BNPB Suharyanto said that from Jakarta he moved to Kupang Regency and the team would continue their journey to Ende Regency before moving towards the affected area in Nagekeo.

"Tonight the BNPB team will depart to support emergency handling operations in Nagekeo," he told reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, that Antara had confiscated it.

The flash flood that occurred on Monday, September 8 night in Nagekeo resulted in four deaths and four others still missing. Currently, the flood conditions have begun to recede, but the joint team continues to search for missing victims.

According to Suharyanto, emergency response operations in the field were led by the Deputy for Emergency Management of BNPB together with elements of the TNI. "Basic logistics have been prepared, including food, clothing, tents, and other urgent needs," he said.

He added that further assessments would be carried out at the location to ensure additional assistance needed by affected residents.

BNPB hopes that emergency handling will be effective so that the affected communities can immediately obtain basic needs adequately.
