2 Years Of Operation, Dog Slaughterhouse In Pekanbaru Raided

PekanbarU - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) Pekanbaru Police raided a slaughterhouse as well as a seller of dog meat operating on Jalan Harapan Raya, Tenayan Raya District.

Pekanbaru Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Kompol Bery Juana Putra said this practice had been going on for two years. The police named two suspects, namely ATS (63) and their son PTS (25).

When the raid was carried out, it was found that five live dogs and two dogs had been slaughtered. These two dogs, one of which are already in dismembered condition and ready to sell the meat. One more person was found in a state that had been burned and slaughtered," said Bery, Monday, September 8.

Bery explained that the perpetrators obtained the supply of dogs from residents and from their own captivity.

They buy live dogs for Rp. 25,000 per kilogram and sell Rp. 75,000 per kilogram after being cut. We will develop it because there are reports of residents who have lost dogs," he said.

Apart from being sold directly, dog meat is also marketed at the suspect's food stall in front of the house.

Some came to buy, then the suspect also had a restaurant. Almost every day there are slaughters and dog slaughters at his house, explained Bery.

Three live dogs are currently being entrusted to the Pekanbaru City Agriculture and Livestock Service for treatment.

Dr. Rita from the Pekanbaru Agriculture and Livestock Service emphasized that the practice of dog slaughter is very dangerous because it has the potential to transmit rabies.
