5,444 People Were Secured During Riots In Various Regions, Deputy Chief Of Police: 583 Remaining In Process

Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Dedi Prasetyo, said that 5,444 people had been arrested in connection with the riots that occurred in several areas. Of these, 583 of them were further processed.

"Of the 5,444 who were secured, 4,800 of them have been sent home. So only 583 are currently in process," Dedi told reporters, Monday, September 8.

It was detailed that the thousands of people were secured in Bandung, Semarang, Makassar, Medan, and so on.

However, Dedi enforcing the 583 detained does not mean he has the status of a suspect. But it is still in the process of being assessed to determine further steps.

The assessment process was carried out because a restorative justice scheme would be implemented in the detention of their cases.

'Of the 583 it's pilah-pilah, which adult is the child. The child is the most important thing. Whether it should be restored justice immediately, it will be assessed by investigators," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding efforts to uncover intellectual actors, Dedi said that the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police was investigating this matter from hundreds of people who are currently still in the assessment process.

It is hoped that from their information they can make light and reveal the mastermind behind the thinness action.

"And also from the National Police Headquarters, from Bareskrim collected all 583 suspects. In-depth studies and analysts are being carried out, who is the intellectual actor, who is the funder, and who is the field operator," said Dedi.
