3 Toll Substations Damaged, Officers Injured: Container Truck Hits GT Ciawi Bogor

BOGOR - A container truck had an accident at Ciawi 2 Toll Gate (GT), Jagorawi Toll Road towards Jakarta, Thursday, September 4 at 02.30 WIB, causing a toll road officer to suffer minor injuries and several service substations were damaged.

"It is true that there has been a traffic accident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate. Currently, it is still in the process of being evacuated," said Head of the Traffic Accident Unit (Kanit Laka Lalu) of the Bogor City Police, AKP Santi Marintan, quoted by ANTARA.

Based on the results of the crime scene (TKP) and witness testimony, the accident began when a container truck with police number B-9647-UEL drove from Ciawi to Jakarta.

When entering the door of GT Ciawi 2, the truck allegedly failed to braking and hit the concrete barrier of the lane. The vehicle was then pushed forward until it hit an Isuzu Total Diesel truck with police number F-8643-VE which was conducting an e-toll transaction.

The violent clash also caused a container truck to crash into a toll booth so that a clan service officer suffered minor injuries and was rushed to Ciawi Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, container truck drivers are reportedly fleeing and are still being sought by the police.

Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad (JMT) in its official statement stated that the three substations at GT Ciawi 2 had been damaged.

"To break the queue, we are optimizing the use of three mobile reader units and tapping assistance by officers at the location," said JMT Senior Manager Representative Office 1 Alvin Andituhat Singarimbun.

Alvin said that his party is currently focusing on accelerating the evacuation of vehicles involved as well as repairing toll booths so that transaction services can be normal immediately. He also reminded the importance of excellent vehicle conditions for the safety of toll road users.

"Serious attention needs to be paid to the feasibility of vehicles. Non-prime vehicles are very dangerous for road users," he said.
