The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has named seven suspects in cases of spreading provocative content through social media related to protests that led to chaos. One of them invited the public to loot the house of a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, which was deactivated by Ahmad Sahroni to the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani.

"We have received 5 police reports which we then followed up with arresting 7 suspects," said the Director of Cyber Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, quoted Thursday, September 4.

The suspect has the initials IS (39). The content of the invitation with provocative elements was conveyed through the TikTok account @hs02775.

In the content he uploaded, the suspect incited the public to loot several members of the DPR, namely, Ahmad Sahroni, Eko Hendro Purnomo alias Eko Patrio, Surya Utama alias Uya Kuya, and Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani.

"The modus operandi of the suspect's actions is to create and stimulate video content through his TikTok social media accounts with the aim of creating hatred for individuals, groups, certain communities based on nationality inciting or provoking an action period for a sense of looting," he said.

Then, the husband and wife couple namely SB (35) and G (20) who are the owners of the Facebook accounts Nannu and Bambu Runcing; and CS (30) with the TikTok account @cepmunich.

In addition to naming suspects, Himawan continued, the Directorate of Cyber Crime at the National Police and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) blocked 592 provocative accounts and content.

"We are collaborating with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to block accounts and content, which to date a total of 592 accounts and content have been recorded," he said.

The blocking was carried out because hundreds of these accounts were considered to have spread provocative content related to protests that led to chaos in various regions.

"These social media accounts spread provocations, invite and incite the public through social media to take unlawful actions during demonstrations," said Himawan.
