Regarding The Asset Confiscation Bill, The Minister Of Law And Human Rights Is Sure That The DPR Will Initiate It Quickly To Be Completed

JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas believes that the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU) will be completed more quickly if the DPR is initiated rather than the government.

He explained that the DPR had stated its readiness to discuss the bill, so it was only a matter of time.

"If it becomes a proposal for the DPR's initiative, I will make sure the discussion will be much faster. Because that means the DPR can already", Supratman said when met in Jakarta, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

Prior to the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill, he said that his party would first talk to the leadership of the DPR whether the bill would be a proposal for the initiative of the government or the DPR.

From the start, the Minister of Law and Human Rights emphasized that the Government, especially President Prabowo Subianto, had emphasized that the Asset Confiscation Bill would be a priority.

Therefore, he admitted that the government was waiting for the ratification of the 2026 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) and the 2025 Prolegnas revision.

"Currently, because the conditions in the DPR are still as you know, we are still trying to ratify the upcoming prolegnas for 2026," he said.

However, he invites all parties to believe and believe that the President has issued a commitment to ratify the Asset Confiscation Bill many times, in which the last one was carried out in front of the workers who carried out demonstrations.

Regarding the proposal for the issuance of a Government Regulation in Lieu of the Law (Perppu) regarding the confiscation of assets, Supratman emphasized that the burden of issuing a Perppu could not always be given to the President.

The reason, he said, is that as long as the Asset Confiscation Bill can proceed normally and all parties have the same commitment, it will be much better.

However, what is clear is that he emphasized that the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill was not just fulfilling the demands of the demonstrators, but from the beginning the government had been committed, especially the President.

Moreover, he continued, the government has completed the draft Asset Confiscation Bill for a long time, so that the discussion in the government has been completed.

"So even before the demonstration, we have prepared and planned for that, we evaluate the prolegnas for the determination of 2026 or the evaluation of 2025, the Asset Confiscation Bill will be included inside," said the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Body of the DPR RI, Sturman Panjaitan, said that the DPR would maximize the discussion of the Draft Law on Asset Confiscation in order to respond to the aspirations of the people who wanted the discussion to be accelerated.

According to him, the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill was held on Monday, September 1, and the bill is still in the drafting stage.

"We are working as much as possible. Even yesterday we also discussed it. Last Monday we also entered," said Sturman at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 2.

He said that the Legislative Council of the Republic of Indonesia would increase community participation in the drafting of the bill. Do not let the law that was formed be very far from public understanding.
