The Ministry Of Social Affairs Prepares Assistance For Children Who Are Entangled In Law Due To Demo

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared social facilities and assistance for children who are in conflict with the law due to demonstrations in a number of areas.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul, said that the facilities were available at social service centers belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs spread across various regions.

"We will facilitate children who are caught in legal problems until the legal process is complete. The social service center is intended for neglected children, children with social problems, including those facing the law," said Gus Ipul, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 3.

According to him, this step is part of the Ministry of Social's efforts to ensure that children's rights are still fulfilled even though they are undergoing a legal process.

In addition to social assistance, these children also have access to basic services such as education and health while in central development.

"We want to make sure the children remain protected and do not lose their basic rights in the middle of the legal process they are undergoing," said Saifullah, then emphasized that the Ministry of Social Affairs is ready to coordinate with law enforcement officials to ensure the mentoring process runs according to the provisions.

Previously, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) said that at least 91 children were arrested by the police during a demonstration in front of the DPR RI Building on Monday, September 25. The children have received assistance and returned to their respective families

However, according to the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), there are still seven children who are still being held at the North Jakarta Police after they were involved in a demonstration in Jakarta.

A series of rallies in various provinces last week were recorded to have claimed a number of lives, including children.

One of them is ALF (16), a student from Puri Bidara Permai, Pematang Village, Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency, Banten, who died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The victim previously participated in a demonstration in front of the DPR Jakarta Building.
