JAKARTA - United States President Donald Trump said he did not look at China's military parade to commemorate the "Day of Victory" in World War II marking Japan's surrender which will be held today in Beijing as a challenge to Washington.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are two of the country's leaders who will attend the military parade.
"At all not. China needs us," said President Trump at the White House when asked if he considered the event a challenge for Uncle Sam's country.
"No, I don't see it (as a challenge) at all," he said.
"I have a very good relationship with President Xi (Tingkok) as you know, but China needs us much more than we need them," said President Trump.
As previously reported, Beijing will commemorate 80 years of victory in the Chinese People's Resistance War Against Japan's Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The large-scale military parade will be held on September 3 at Beijing's Tiananmen Square with a duration of about 70 minutes. Apart from being followed by soldiers, the parade will also feature China's military defense equipment, advanced missile systems to unmanned platforms.
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week said there were about 26 heads of state and government to attend. Slovak Prime Minister, a member of the European Union, Robert Fico is the only Western leader planned to attend.
