Tanah Abang Community Leaders Want A Peaceful Atmosphere

JAKARTA - A number of clashes that occurred in several areas such as Pejompongan, KS Tubun and Petamburan, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta are of special concern. A number of Tanah Abang community leaders on Monday, September 1, 2025, agreed to make a peace declaration in Tanah Abang calling to 'Keep Jakarta'. They agreed that one vote would guard their territory in the midst of a demonstration situation to date.

"That's mostly from outsiders (troshes in Pejompongan). For example yesterday's incident in Petamburan, I pulled people from the area and it only lasted 3 hours," said Head of Guyub Tenabang House, H. Heru Nuryaman when confirmed.

He suspects that the demonstrations that led to clashes at several points in the Tanah Abang area have been infiltrated by other parties.

"It turns out that there are outsiders who infiltrate this. We already know, so we move and we reject the point. It's time for the Tenabang residents to fight back," he said.

The peace declaration was made around Kebon Kacang, precisely in front of Plaza Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 1, 2025.

A number of community leaders were present from various elements of Tanah Abang, RW, LMK, City Council, Jakmania, MUI, DMI, and Karang Taruna.

"So this action is moving from a concern that has occurred in the past few days, because it has led to vandalism, that is what we do not accept. We, with interfaith, cross mass organizations and elements of all Tanah Abang people take action today, reject all forms of violence," he said.

The declaration of the residents of Tanah Abang was attended by hundreds of residents and a number of interfaith community leaders, mass organizations and other elements.

"I ask everyone for elements of society who if they have seen a situation like this, it is time to rise," he said.

Then the clashes grew even more after the collision of an ojol driver by Rantis Brimob in the Greater Clearing area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

Moreover, the victim named Affan Kurniawan was also run over to death by a Rantis Brimob vehicle. The clashes then spread to other areas in Jakarta and the crowd became increasingly out of control.
