Used To Be Free Of Malaria, Now Hundreds Of Residents Are Infected: Parigi Moutong Set KLB

PARIGI - Pemerintah Kabupaten Parigi Moutong, Sulawesi Tengah, menetapkan status Peristiwa Extraordinary (KLB) malaria setelah kasus penyakit tersebut meningkat cepat di lima kecamatan.

"Through the KLB status, massive malaria treatment is carried out to suppress its prevalence," said Acting Head of the Parigi Moutong Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Moh Rivai, when contacted from Palu, Antara, Monday, September 1.

The determination of the KLB status is stated in the Decree (SK) of the Regent of Parigi Moutong Number 300.2.2/809/BPBD concerning the Emergency Alert Status for Disaster Management of the 2025 Malaria KLB. This status is valid for 30 days, starting from August 14 to September 12, 2025, and can be extended if needed.

Based on preliminary data from the local government, there were more than 160 cases of malaria in Sausu, Moutong, Bolano Lambunu, Taopa, and Kasimbar sub-districts.

The Malaria Handling Task Force is currently conducting education and socialization of prevention to schools and communities in Sausu District. This step is equipped with medical intervention by the local Health Office to inhibit transmission.

According to Rivai, the handling of the KLB involves nine regional apparatus organizations (OPD) according to their respective main duties and functions. All countermeasures costs are charged to the 2025 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) or other legitimate sources in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
