The Indonesian Military Denies Allowing Looting of the House of Member of the House of Representative.

JAKARTA - Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Tandyo Budi Revita, emphasized that no action was taken during the looting of the homes of several members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Tandyo emphasized that the TNI is ready to provide security if requested for assistance, as mandated by law.

"The TNI is always requested first. Therefore, when the president summoned us on the 30th, there was probably a request for our assistance. That's why we deployed on the 31st," Tandyo said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 1.

According to Tandyo, the TNI was only deployed after being requested for assistance following the incident and summoned by President Prabowo Subianto.

"I said, we obey the constitution. That's what the constitution says. We are providing assistance," Tandyo said.

Previously, the house of NasDem Faction DPR member Ahmad Sahroni in the Tanjung Priok area was looted by a mob on Saturday, August 30. The entire contents of the house were reportedly also looted. A similar incident also occurred at the residence of PAN Faction members of the House of Representatives, Eko Hendro Purnomo (Eko Patrio) and Surya Utama (Uya Kuya).

The public believes that the authorities appear to be allowing the looting at officials' homes to proceed easily. without any significant security.
