Police Denies The Issue Of Child Involvement Of TNI Members In The Provocation Of The Cikeas Brimob Attack

BOGOR - Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto emphasized that it is not true that there was involvement of the TNI members in the issue of provocation of the attack on the Cikeas Mobile Brigade Headquarters,

The statement was made following the circulation of a video confession of a suspect with the initials M who said that he was ordered by a B, a child of a TNI member in Jakarta, to carry out an attack.

"The confession of suspect M is just a trick in order to escape the legal process. He deliberately took the name of the child of a TNI member to get protection," said the Police Chief in Cibinong, Sunday night.

According to Wikha, the results of the direct confrontation between the two parties and digital examination proved that the confession was a lie. He explained that there was no evidence of B or his family's involvement in the provocation plan.

Police found that M had used the name B and his father several times to avoid legal problems, including in cases of traffic violations. A similar pattern was repeated when he was arrested.

With these findings, the Bogor Police confirmed that the plan to attack Brimob Cikeas was purely an initiative of civilian actors without interference from the military.

The police chief asked the public not to be provoked by hoaxes circulating because the main goal of the false information was to create unrest and pitting one another.

"We hope the public remains calm, don't believe news that is not yet clear. Hoaxes like this are deliberately blown to cause a commotion," he said.

He said that the TNI-Polri in Bogor were solidly maintaining the Kamtibmas situation with the local government. Real steps will be shown with a joint rally and large-scale patrol on Monday (1/9).

The joint patrol will involve Polri personnel, TNI, and elements of the local government as a commitment to provide a sense of security and maintain stability in Bogor Regency.

According to Wikha, the security forces are ready to carry out the President's order to take firm steps against lawbreakers, while ensuring that the Bogor area remains conducive.

Previously, the Bogor Police named four people as suspects in the case of provocation of the Cikeas Brimob attack after securing 17 suspected perpetrators in a security operation in Bogor Regency, Saturday (30/8) night.

Wikha explained that the four people had an important role in the planned attack that circulated through provocative pamphlets on social media from day to night.
