JAKARTA - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday passed a resolution that emphasized that a just, lasting and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the application of a two-state solution.
The resolution adopted at the 21st Extraordinary Foreign Ministers' Conference held at the OKI headquarters in Jeddah at the request of Palestinians, Turkey, and Iran, the foreign ministers of OIC members expressed "our tough rejection and condemnation of Israel's announcement of its plans to implement full occupation and military control over the Gaza Strip and all schemes, regardless of its nature, aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people."
They condemned Israel's announcement and plans as "dangerous and unacceptable escalation, efforts to strengthen illegal occupation, and ways to impose a fait accompli through violence," as quoted by WAFA Aug. 26.
The resolution also warned, "The illegal act threatens regional and international peace and security and constitutes a blatant violation of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights laws, internationally legitimate relevant resolutions, as well as the opinion of advisers and temporary measures ordered by the International Court."
The OIC considers "Israel, as a occupation force, fully responsible for the unprecedented acts of genocide, humanitarian catastrophe, and hunger that hit the Gaza Strip," and demands that "Israel opens all crossings and immediately allow the entry of unrestricted and unconditional humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, including food, medicine, and sufficient fuel, ensuring aid agencies and international humanitarian organizations, particularly UNRWA, can operate freely," in line with international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and relevant UN resolutions.
"It is important and the need for the international community to responsibly respond to the provisions of the Integrated Food Safety Phase Classification System (IPC) adopted by the United Nations regarding the occurrence of hunger in the Gaza Strip for the first time and at the international level," the resolution said.
"Israel's occupation is fully and directly responsible for this crime and its impact. They call on the international community to take immediate action and operate all international emergency mechanisms to ensure the immediate, adequate, and unrestricted flow of humanitarian and food aid to the Gaza Strip, and emphasize the need to refer to Israel's crime issues in the form of hunger and sieges carried out in the Gaza Strip to the International Criminal Court," he said.
The OIC also emphasized the importance of the Palestinian State Government taking full responsibility for governance and security throughout the occupied Palestinian territories.
The OIC calls for comprehensive support from member countries of OKi and the international community to facilitate this, highlighting the need to provide various forms of assistance to the Palestinian Government, particularly through the activation of the Islamic Financial Safety Net, following the agreed transparent mechanism.
They also urged the international community to "encourage Israel to immediately and completely release all of the Palestinian tax revenues that have been illegally detained."
"A just, lasting and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the implementation of a two-state solution. This solution requires an end to Israel's occupation, ensuring the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the pre-4 June 1967 Border, with the East Al-Quds as its capital, in accordance with international law, the relevant United Nations resolution and the Arab Peace Initiative," the resolution exclaimed.

The OIC also appreciates the decisions of countries that have recognized or announced the intention to recognize the Palestinian State next month, praising it as fundamental confirmation and support for the natural, historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny and the formation of an independent state.
The OIC also urges other countries that have not recognized the Palestinian State to fulfill its obligations and support the full membership of Palestine at the United Nations.
"This recognition is considered important to implement and protect the two-state solution and to achieve peace, stability, and security in the region," the resolution said.
